When making a call, Turbo Dialling is the ability to speed up the time taken to dial a phone number.
How do I activate Turbo Dialling?
To activate Turbo Dialling:
- Wait for the dial tone
- Dial the phone number
- Press #
Block Caller ID
What is Block Caller ID?
When making a call, your phone number is sent to the phone of the person you are dialing. You can control sending your phone number by either blocking your number for all calls or on a call-by-call basis, excluding Engin to Engin calls.
How do I activate Block Caller ID?
To activate Block Caller ID:
- Wait for the dial tone
- Dial *67
- Wait for the dial tone.
How do I deactivate Block Caller ID?
To deactivate Block Caller ID:
- Wait for the dial tone
- Dial *68
- Wait for the dial tone.
The above code can be used either prior to making calls, or as a prefix to a phone number when making a call by replacing the second dial tone with the phone number you wish to dial.
How do I activate Block Caller ID for the next call only?
To activate Block Caller ID for the next call only:
- Wait for the dial tone
- Dial *81
- Dial phone number.
Voicemail
What is Voicemail?
Voicemail saves voice messages that are left in your mailbox. You can then retrieve them from any telephone as well as from your PC.
How do I set-up Voicemail?
To set-up and activate your Engin Voicemail, please call one of our customer service representatives on 1300 305 000.
How do I know when I receive a new message?
Notification will be sent to your e-mail address when you receive a new message.
When will my phone divert to my Voicemail?
Your phone will divert to Voicemail 30 seconds after not being answered. It will also divert when your phone is busy or if you don't answer your
Call Waiting.
I have forgotten my Voicemail password, what do I do?

How much does Voicemail cost?
Voicemail is included with your monthly service fee. If you retrieve your messages from another telephone service such as a mobile you may incur charges from the applicable carrier.

How do I retrieve Voicemail messages?
To retrieve your messages you will need to dial the Voicemail phone number that corresponds with the city that you live in. The different numbers are:
- Sydney (02) 9016-4500
- Melbourne (03) 9012-5200
- Brisbane (07) 3114-2100
- Adelaide (08) 8464-0100
- Perth (08) 6363-5100
- Call corresponding Voicemail phone number from above list.
- Enter Engin phone number (if not calling from your Engin account).
- Enter password
- Dial 1
- Listen to message.
You can also listen to your Voicemail messages on your computer. This feature is called V-mail.
What does it mean to pre-pend a Voicemail message?
This option is used if you wish to forward a message to another mailbox. To pre-pend a message is to record your own message before the message that you are sending.
Can my phone be notified when I have a new Voicemail message?
Email notification is the only notification service that is currently available.
When I receive calls, why do they divert to someone else's Voicemail message?
If this is occurring, it means that call forwarding has been activated on your Engin voice service.

Will I be able to receive messages on my Voicemail if I have activated Do Not Disturb?
Yes, so you never have to miss a message, when Do Not Disturb is activated your phone will divert to Voicemail.
What are Voicemail folders and what are they used for?
For easy retrieval, Voicemail allows you to store your old messages in a number of different folders. These include old messages, work messages, family messages and friend's messages.

V-mail
What is V-mail?
V-mail is an automatic electronic Voicemail message notification email. When a message has been left on your Engin Voicemail service, you will receive a V-mail notification via your nominated email address.
How do I retrieve V-mail messages?
Simply open the email to identify the calling party's number as well as the time and date of the call. You can also click on the 'sound attachment' icon to hear your message played over your PC.
Call Forwarding
How do I activate a Call Forwarding feature?
Please call Engin customer service to activate and deactivate this feature.
Is there a cost associated with my Call Forwarding features?
Any calls that are forwarded to another number incur a charge at your normal tariff fee. There are no additional diversion fees associated with the call forwarding features.
Will my Call Forwarding features work if my Voice Box is not turned on?
Yes, all call forwarding features will work even if your Voice Box has lost power or your ISP has gone down.
Will Call Forwarding work if I have Voicemail activated?
No, you can only have one divert active at any one time. This means you can either divert your Engin number to your voicemail box or to another phone number of your choice.
What is Call Forward Unconditional?
This service is used to forward all incoming calls to a specific phone number. All incoming calls will be forwarded to your specified number regardless of the status of your phone (i.e. active, engaged, no answer, not in use and powered down). When selecting a number, please ensure that you include the appropriate area code when applicable.
What is Call Forward No Answer?
This service is used to forward your incoming calls to a specific phone number when your line has no answer. When selecting a number, please ensure you include the appropriate area code where applicable.
What is Call Forward Busy No Answer?
This service is used to forward your incoming calls to a specific phone number when your line is busy and/or has no answer. For instructions on how to activate this feature, click here. The specific phone numbers that you choose for the 2 types of diversions can be different or the same. However, you must place a number in both diversion boxes. If you wish to have only one of the diversions active then you must place your own phone number in the diversion box that you wish to remain undiverted. When selecting a number to divert to, please ensure you include the appropriate area code where applicable.
Fax
Can I use a Fax machine with Engin?
Faxing is not supported by Engin. Engin previously offered this feature on a trial basis, however this is no longer available.
Switchboard
What is Engin Switchboard?
Engin Switchboard is an exciting feature that gives you an incoming phone number from any Engin service area. For example, you can live in Sydney and have a Perth phone number. There is a small charge associated with this feature.
How much is Engin Switchboard?
Engin Switchboard has a $5.00 per month access fee per number, as at 14th May 2007.
Are there any incoming call charges associated with Engin Switchboard?
No, all incoming calls are free of Engin charges.
What are the benefits of having an Engin Switchboard number?
An Engin Switchboard number allows you to have an incoming phone number from another geographic area. This means that the people calling you can save money (as they will only be paying local call rates instead of national call rates). This is particularly valuable to a business as it could encourage more people to call you.
How many Engin Switchboard numbers can I have?
You can have as many Engin Switchboard numbers as you like. All of the numbers will ring on the one phone that is plugged into your Engin Voice Box, or ring straight through to your Engin Internet Phone.
What locations are available for Engin Switchboard?
You can obtain an Engin Switchboard number for any of the following locations: Sydney, Central Coast, Penrith, Canberra, Melbourne, Geelong, Adelaide, Perth, Gold Coast and Brisbane.
Who can get an Engin Switchboard number?
Any Engin customer regardless of wether they are within an Engin coverage area or not are able to use an Engin Switchboard number.
